Winter Track Wrap-Up

Posted by Emmaus High School Track and Field Team on Feb 13 2022 at 05:36AM PST

After 2 years, it was a great day returning to the Carnival Meet, especially considering we had several meets canceled this season. There are learning moments in each and every experience, so we appreciate these opportunities. Here are the highlights from some of the performances of the day:

1. Molly Lineberger again PR’d for indoor shot, 31-01.75, which is also her life time best throw for outdoor as well! She finished 8th overall. WAY TO GO MOLLY!!!!!!

2. Boys DMR was so fun to watch with a 24 second drop and a 3rd place medal! They were battling in the top 3 the entire race. Conor Fisher had his best split in the 1200m with a 3:33, Blaise Verrastro “blazed” by the competition in :53 for the 400m, Tyler Finck held steady with a 2:14 800m running alone most of the time, and Oscar Felegy had his lifetime best time of 4:50 (11 second PR) in the anchor leg!!!!

3. Holden Brown ran both of his indoor PR’s yesterday, in the open 400m (55.24) and 4×800m split (2:09)! Holden is a strong leader on the team, works hard, and keeps everyone on the right “track.”

4. AJ Hurlburt tied for a 3rd place medal among some of the best in Pole Vault! He will be advancing to the state indoor meet, held at Penn State University on 2/27/22!!! He hopes to again break the school record at the state meet!

5. The boys 4×400m was uncertain who was running, but they pulled it together and dropped a bit more time. Matt Norton returned to racing in the lead-off leg with a crazy hand-off in lane 6, Zavier Urbaez ran his lifetime best split of 55.4, Zac Olszewski in his first ever track competition ran a 56.6, and Blaise Verrastro ran back-back events DMR then 4×4 with a 54.7 split!

6. Bethany Brown just missed finals in the 60m hurdles, but she was focused on 3-stepping the entire race, and she did it! She missed the indoor school record by 0.09.

7. The girls 4×800m relay (Payton Campbell, Addison Kleinle, Sophia Kovalski, and Addison Shank) and 4×400m relay (Isabella Scarlata, Heather Augustin, Addison Shank, Payton Campbell) both finished around seed times with a completely different line-up!

8. The girls DMR (Addison Kleinle, Isabella Scarlata, Isabela Lees, Hailey Reinhard) stayed strong and worked through challenges together to finish 10th overall. Isabela ran the open 3,000 and Hailey ran the open mile prior.

9. Reagan Breisch ran his first ever 60m hurdles indoors, only his second indoor meet (ran 55m hurdles prior) in his high school career. We look forward to watching his progress this year!

10. Evan Loro fnished 8th overall in LJ, not quite reaching his best, but we look forward to watching his progress this year as well!

Please check your email regarding practices onward to prepare for Spring!
